Sensors and Control Systems in Arc Welding

This book presents the state-of-the-art of the technology from the Japanese perspective, and covers sensors, sensing systems, measurement and control in relation to welding technologies. Divided into two sections, the book begins with a general review of the technology in Japan. The second half of the book comprises of thirty nine chapters on applications of sensors to welding processes contributed by leading companies, research institutes and universities. Section two includes the fundamentals and applications of various sensors such as contact-sensors, arc sensors, optical sensors, temperature sensors, electromagnetic sensors, controlled systems such as seam tracking and adaptive control of welding parameters.
