Santa Ana

The Santa Ana Pueblo, called Tamaya by its people, is located in central New Mexico, northwest of Albuquerque, between the Jemez Mountains and the Rio Grande. Laura Bayer and Floyd Montoya worked with Pueblo elders to collect Tamaya's history, beliefs, ways of life, oral traditions, and legal systems through the end of the twentieth century. Over two dozen halftones and twenty-four maps illustrate Tamaya's story.
