Rx for Hell

Due to a lethal combination of a cruel husband and an astoundingly careless psychiatrist, what started as a commonplace car accident, morphed into a bizarre chain of events that turned my world upside down. The relentless pain and associated depression resultant from numerous surgeries spawned a failed suicide attempt, a felony arrest with a potential twenty-year prison sentence, a stint in solitary confinement, and almost two weeks in the maximum security wing of a psychiatric hospital.
The miraculous part of this journey was not that He sent angels to walk with me, but the angels He chose. My only strength and comfort during this arduous time was derived from lost souls who had never met me, had no obligation to me, yet rose above their own desperate situations to help me. Without these individuals, I am sure I would not have survived.
As painful as it was, I relived these events to write my story, in hopes that it will serve others. I can now articulate what it feels like to be that person held captive by delusions and demons. Perhaps having some insight into their private hell, will prevent loved ones from turning away in frustration, and help them realize what their support means to the person suffering. To wage war with an enemy only you can see is difficult enough, but to do it completely and utterly alone--is impossible.
