Private Prisons

The debate over the privatization of criminal justice services, especially of imprisonment, has featured prominently in the ongoing controversy over the proper scope and size of government. In the US, the record of private ownership has been bleak - ridden with political corruption, physical abuse of prisoners, and the single-minded pursuit of profits.
