Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The Second Edition Of this Book being out of print, we have, at the request of the Publishers, revised it for republication. In doing so it will be seen that we have adhered closely to the original plan Of the work, and that the principal changes are additions which recent practice has enabled us to make in further illustration Of the principles which were so clearly and ably set forth even in the First Edition of this Book. We regret that the Author was himself unable to again revise the work from which we personally have derived great assistance in our profession, and our hope is that the absence of the master-hand will not be too apparent.
