Praise of Shade

Praise of Shades is Essays of Junichiro Tanizaki, a Japanese literary giant. It contains six essays, including Praise of Shadoes, Theory of Laziness, Love and Pornography, Disgusting Guests, Travel Miscellaneous Words and Toilet Things. It is Junichiro Tanizaki's representative essay. Among them, the most widely known Praise of Shades is derived from the viewpoint that "e;Shadows have created the beauty of oriental architecture"e; and explores the subtleties of oriental architecture and culture. Other articles also focus on the cultural differences between the East and the West. The prose is fluid, full of examples and witty. It can be said that this book set the oriental architectural system with Junichiro Tanizaki characteristics.
