Poirot Investigates

First published in 1924, 'Poirot Investigates' is a short story collection by Agatha Christie, an English writer known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, particularly those revolving around fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. In the eleven stories, celebrated eccentric detective Hercule Poirot cracks an assortment of mysteries implicating greed, jealousy, and revenge.

The detective deals with the theft of a gem said to have been the eye of a mysterious idol, a million dollars in bonds that disappear from a locked case, jewel thieves who have originated a seemingly impossible theft, and even the abduction of the Prime Minister of England. Poirot uses deduction, and deception and is not above creating illusions to reveal a killer, but his foes are often both more distinctive and more treacherous than simple murderers. He finds himself combating spies and even trying to stop a suspected Egyptian curse.
