Researches since made have encouraged him to think that some study of the career of this remarkable man may be of interest, and may perhaps even form what Stevenson called a Footnote to History.<br><br>The contemporary writers on the Reign of Edward II. make few references to Gaveston. Their genealogical records are scanty.
