This book is a set of articles by the writer, historian and scientist Muhammad Karda Ali, who wrote it because of the belief that the purpose of literature is the reform of society and its raising and participation in solving its problems. In this book, the writer devotes his pen to monitor social and cultural phenomena that prevailed in Arab societies during the mid -twentieth century, and he saw that they are hindering development, so he had to highlight these phenomena and solve the problems that caused them, as the comparisons between these customs and the rejected nature and their improved European counterparts, he did not see, he does not see He was disturbed by taking some of their behaviors and their prints that made them progress, and it was a motive, not an obstacle. The writer also provides his vision of several social issues around which intellectual records - at the time - such as the issue of women''s rights and the combination of two cultures, Arab unity and the Islamic University. It is worth noting that Muhammad Kurd Ali is a linguistic scientist and a Syrian writer, and he was the head of the Arab Scientific Academy in Damascus, his founder, and the owner of the magazine (Al -Maqtab) and many literature.
