Osteogenic bone tumors

Osteogenic bone tumors are tumors that produce an ossifying matrix. They are a heterogeneous group of benign and malignant tumors. Benign tumors are represented by enostosis, the most frequent and often suggestive on imaging; osteoma is rare and also has imaging characteristics; osteoid osteoma and osteoblastoma sometimes have the same radiological features, but differ in their clinical presentation and natural history. Malignant tumours are represented by osteosarcoma, which falls into three categories: intramedullary osteosarcoma, surface osteosarcoma and secondary osteosarcoma. These subtypes of osteosarcoma are often characterized by characteristic imaging findings that are suggestive of the diagnosis.This pedagogical and didactic book provides a radiological description of the various osteogenic tumors, illustrating their different presentations, the main imaging features for diagnosis and the various therapeutic decisions.The book is intended for radiology interns and practicing physicians.
