The events described in the stories take place in the late sixties and early seventies of the twentieth century, in the capital of Soviet Ukraine, the glorious city of Kiev. A character who can be considered the protagonist is quite an ordinary Soviet citizen (even worse), because the full title of the series of stories - "e;The Adventures of Comrade Navalyava, or the Cases of the City Idiot,"e; speaks for itself. What can I say about the main character, if I may say so? His charm is in indecision, and strength is in doubt. He is the one about whom they will not lay down legends, he will not be given songs and poems. He is definitely "e;a stranger to this holiday of life."e; Perhaps he was born at the wrong time and in the wrong country, but people like him, perhaps, can consider themselves absolutely happy, regardless of what is happening around. His decency is perceived by others as a challenge to society, kindness is stupidity, and education and erudition are undoubted signs of idiocy. He looks from what is deprived of the "e;illusion of all-pervasiveness"e; inherent in many, why in no way belongs to the vast majority. He is an outcast that does not embitter him, but passes somewhere past him, like water through the sand, except for the absent-mindedness that plunges him into various woes that he does not overcome, but simply resides as a reality. However, he is endowed with one rather interesting ability, in which his own uniqueness is - not wishing and not realizing, sometimes, he is able to influence some events of a world scale. Personally, for me, Navalyayev is not a phenomenon, but a mood that comes with voices, smells, images of amazing childhood in Kiev, a wonderful autumn mood, which I would like to share with the reader.
