Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. IN the preparation of this new edition of Dr. Bolles Lee's well known book I have received the assistance of Professor W. M. Bayliss, Dr. C. Da Fano, Dr. A. Drew, Dr. W. Cramer, and Mr. J. Thornton Carter. It has been almost entirely due to these workers that my plans for, the new edition have been able to be carried out in the way I wished. Thanks to them, this book may be considered a most complete and stimulating book of reference for the research worker.
