Mi Mariposa

After Jasmine's parents die in a house fire, she is forced to live in an orphanage in Macon, Georgia. One day she discovers a mysterious black hole that takes her time traveling around the globe. She is part of a group of children from London traveling to the country to escape the dangers of WWII. She meets Dr. Martin Luther King and survives the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. She learns what it's like to be a girl in the SWAT Valley under the Taliban's rule. She travels with the Choctaw tribe on the Trail of Tears, and she lives with refugees waiting to cross the border into America. Will Jasmine find her way to a forever home? This story visits some difficult times in history and gently asks us what it means to be a friend and what it truly means to be at home.
