Marine And Fresh Water Fishes Of Ceylon

This present handbook aims at bringing under a single cover descriptions, illustrations and identification keys to all the marine, brackish and fresh water species of fish that have hitherto been recorded from Ceylon and the adjacent waters of the Gulf of Manaar with its pearl banks or paars, and the trawling grounds which have been investigated experimentally or fished commercially. The contents are based on a check-list prepared by the author in Colombo at the Ceylon Fisheries Research Station, and completed under his direction in Australia by Miss Marcia Whitehurst at the Marine Biological Laboratory of the Division of Fisheries, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization.
