Malay Archipelago

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Since this work was first published, twenty-one years ago, several naturalists have visited the Archipelago; and in order to give my readers the latest results of their researches I have added footnotes Whenever my facts or conclusions have been modified by later discoveries. I have also made a few verbal alterations in the text to correct any small errors or Obscurities. These corrections and additions are however not numerous, and the work remains substantially the same as in the early editions. I may add that my complete collections of birds and butterflies are now in the British Museum.
