Machine Translation and Translation Theory

Up to the mid 1990s, progress in machine translation has been ignored in translation theory and vice versa. This text sets out to demonstrate how machine translation can profit from the insights gained in translation theory. The volume contains papers given at the second international workshop, "Machine Translation and Translation Theory", held in 1994 at the University of Hildesheim.
