Lupus nephropathy in children

Lupus nephropathy (LN) affects 50-75% of children with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Lupus nephritis is more common and severe in children and has been associated with high morbidity and mortality. This review aimed to describe the general aspects of LN and its peculiarities when affecting children and adolescents, while focusing on the etiopathogenesis of the disease, clinical manifestations, renal tissue alterations, as well as therapeutic management.
