La preciosa novela de Pedro Carlos Lemus me hizo pensar en este verso de Emily Dickinson, porque se trata de un joven que ha sido educado con rigor en la tristeza. Sus padres --defectuosos, como todos--lo zambulleron temprano en el mar del abandono, la frustraci n y el despecho. Y ah --como las hero nas de las telenovelas que adora y como en las letras de las canciones que lo hieren y lo curan y lo hieren-- aprendi a nadar con soltura y dignidad. As tambi n aprendi a enamorarse: con esa asombrosa habilidad de replegarse antes del golpe. El joven al que ama tambi n lo abandon , aunque quiz l no lo dir a de esa forma. Lo dir a de un modo m s sugerente y, por eso mismo, m s doloroso.

Encontrar poes a en el sufrimiento, en la opacidad, en la incomprensi n, en la observaci n melanc lica de la «plenitud fabulada de los otros es uno de los grandes m ritos de esta novela.
