Killari: (English Version)

This short novel recounts the adventures of a brave young princess at the height of Peru's Inca Empire. It not only depicts the struggles of the royal line but explores Killari's individual search for independence as a woman in her magical land. Counter to the customs of her time she relies on her instincts to find her soulmate, breaking the bounds of her restrictive society. We accompany Killari on her journey as she explores various important sites of Peru that eventually take us to the mystical city of Machu Picchu, at its inception, as well as other significant religious outposts. The esoteric practices of the sixteenth century people of the Andes whet our appetites to become more involved in this historical dramatization. The unexpected arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors illustrates the clash between two antagonistic cultures and the progressive destruction of the once thriving native civilization. We witness the historical wars, brutality and decimation imposed upon Killari's people and also her struggle to maintain the essence of her Inca culture.A great read for the whole family.
