Issuance and Management of Commodity Trackers in the Uemoa Zone

The WAEMU regional financial market represented by the BRVM was created to facilitate the mobilization of capital within the zone and the circulation of funds. However, a quick analysis of the assets offered by the international financial markets shows that the BRVM is very poor, with only two (2) financial products to its credit. Another observation is that commodity producers in the WAEMU zone are heavily affected by commodity prices, whereas the economies of WAEMU countries are largely based on the production and marketing of these commodities. Based on these observations, we have decided to create a company that will specialize in the issuance and management of a new financial product: the tracker. This investment medium will allow interested parties to hedge or transfer their commodity price risks, to replicate the changes in the futures prices of the main commodities to which economic agents in the WAEMU zone are exposed and finally to strengthen the pool of securities available at the BRVM.
