Island No.10

Between February 1862 and July 1863, the Confederates lost 64,000 troops in defending a mile-long island on the Mississippi River that straddled the boundaries of Tennessee, Missouri and Kentucky. This study highlights one of the opening campaigns for control of the Mississippi Valley.
