Investigation of Energy Values

The aim of this study was to investigate the energy values of some Southwestern Nigeria fuelwoods for air pollution control. The research determined the energy values of some common fuelwoods in Southwestern Nigeria; investigated the chemical properties of the fuelwood samples; identified the best energy-rich fuelwoods; and determined the potential of the fuelwoods as energy carriers for air pollution control. Fuelwoods do not undergo depletion, unlike fossil fuels. Southwest Nigeria has many forest reserves and arable lands in hectares that can produce enough fuelwoods for energy production. The research findings have significant implications for policy, practice, and future research in renewable energy in Nigeria and in other parts of the world.
