Interpersonal Communication Concerns for Hospital Chaplains

Hospital chaplains function in an environment that consists of a wide range of circumstances. The spectrum of global faith traditions are represented in patient populations as well as the increasing numbers of unchurched patients. Most hospital chaplains and those who train them will consistently acknowledge that interpersonal communication skills are essential for the hospital chaplain. However, even with this consistent emphasis, there is far less explanation for how the elements of interpersonal communication interface within the interaction process to produce a desired (or undesired) effect. The purpose of this book is to peel back the layers of hospital interactions to systemically analyze specific communication dynamics.
