Skin is the largest organ of our body. It provides a physical, chemical, and mechanical barrier that protects the body from dehydration, helps maintain proper body temperature, and protects the body from infectious agents. Sometimes the skin itself becomes infected. Skin infections are caused by a wide variety of germs, and symptoms can vary from mild to serious.
