Everyone knows somebody young or old who cannot read or struggles to read. It is like having only one peddle on your bicycle and seeing cyclists ride past and disappearing in the distance leaving you behind. That journey of discovery of each letter having a sound all of its own is like sitting on the saddle of the bicycle and having two feet on two peddles and moving off in first gear and wobbling to maintain balance. To have the ability to string together the sounds of each letter to make words is like going from first gear into second gear and feeling the wind in your hair.
