In the Near Future: Some Technological Prognostications

Predicting the future is not an idle man's business. We humans rely on predictions in one form or another to make sense of life. We are not just automatons walking blindly into the future, we project the future, we plan and we chase these plans. Sometimes our projections of what the future will look like is accurate and sometimes we are wrong, but living without a plan is not an option so we still have to plan, which essentially involves some kind of prediction work. This book is about predicting the technological future, I try to avoid visions that are too fantastic or far fetched and rather focus on visions that I think are practical and should inspire research and development in certain directions. Just like a good sci-fi movie can lead us to take certain paths in our tech careers, this book will really inspire you in a new direction.
