From October 1965 to April 1966, Qingdao successively sent 4,000 military reclamation fighters to Golmud City, Qinghai Province to participate in the 12th Agricultural Construction Division of the Qinghai Provincial Production and Construction Corps to Golmud, the second largest city in Qinghai Province (and successively to Mahai, Dulan and other places) to reclaim and guard the frontier for Eighteen years (1965 - 1983). Eighteen years later, this history came to an end. The novel is based on the 18-year history of Qinghai's agricultural and construction division guarding the frontier, and composes the story of 800 military reclamation fighters in Qingdao Huanggang from March 1966 to October 1983 to build a modern forest farm in the Letuohe area of the western suburbs of Golmud, who worked hard, went through hardships, suffered repeated hardships, and grew up in the ashes. It records an indelible and precious process in the history of Golmud construction and a part of the important contributions of Shandong youths during that historical period. The novel focuses on depicting the typical images of youth without regrets, represented by Qingdao Huanggang educated youths Liu Yuqing, Yue Shaochun, Xiao Wumei and Chu Wenhui. In the nearly twenty years of arduous struggle, their journey was bumpy and wasted, and they selflessly devoted their precious youth, laying a solid foundation for the great development of Golmud in the new century. From the unique perspective of the Yinfeng Independent Camp Letuohe Forestry Company, the novel describes their hard work, perseverance, and indomitable touching achievements. It shows nearly 10,000 agricultural construction masters in Qinghai (at that time, in addition to Qingdao, Shandong Province, there were also eight cities including Jinan, Weifang, Zibo, Yantai, Dezhou, Jining, Zaozhuang and Xining, Qinghai, and they dispatched several batches of educated youth army reclamation fighters, with a total of nearly 10,000 soldiers).
