The Book of Revelation broadly describes three types of churches, which in turn reflect their broader communities - those who are either persecuted, assimilating, or complacent - and so too the questions that seed from these essays are the same eternal questions that are asked from each and every passing generation. What are the factors causing us searing discomfort; in what matters are we numbingly complacent; but mostly, from this our westernized secular culture, what assimilating beliefs are we adopting that are driving us towards our own salvation, our own, home-made brand of washing powder?
