Il était une fois le Royaume du Waalo
The history of the Kingdom of Waalo is the one of the cradle of the Senegal river valley. Fed by the Senegal River to the east and watered by Lake Guiers to the south, the Waalo straddled current Mauritania and Senegal. Like the great civilizations united to their rivers, the Waalo was a prosperous delta, a land of agriculture but also a land of culture and interbreeding between different peoples. The Kingdom of Waalo was endowed with an advanced democratic system which exceeded by its modernity, many contemporary Kingdoms of Europe, America and Asia. The women of Waalo, considered as a source of prosperity, themselves presided over the destiny of their people and their land by being in front of or by appointing men at the head of the Kingdom.
