'A special note for readers of the English translation. I'm fully aware that my book isn't British or American, and in some cases you may find that I describe situations and views which are different from those with which you're familiar. It's a fresh look. But if you bear with it, I don't expect that you will have any real problems. You will probably find that we're looking at the same thing, but from a different perspective and background. You might also like to ponder why the book received such a tremendous response in the Netherlands. I can see only one reason. This "fresh look" gives an answer to the question how to become a Christian without being a fundamentalist.'
