Hitch America

Set in 1978, Hitch America is the true story of two young men, attempting to break the constraints of life in Hastings, East Sussex, by hitchhiking around North America. They bid to discover new lands, divergent people, alternative cultures and their own true identity.

The two friends hitched without a plan or a care in the world, travelled without restriction or accountability, slept in a tent and lived on $3 a day.

What emerges is a fascinating story and social commentary of the period, incorporating some quite hilarious yarns, intriguing encounters, anecdotal comment, keen observations and a unique travelogue of epic proportions, as seen through the eyes of a twenty-one year old unsophisticated Englishman.
