Harrogate in 50 Buildings examines the architectural treasures of this famous Yorkshire spa town. Established local author Malcolm Neesam has selected fifty of Harrogate’s most significant architectural and historical buildings and describes their provenance, design, materials and use. Many of Harrogate’s important older buildings were created to serve the spa that developed after 1571, and the design of these buildings often reflected the visitors’ needs for accommodation, spa treatments, entertainment and bodily exercise. The uniqueness of Harrogate largely derives from the spa associations of its buildings.
