"The Sun Never Sets On The Scots", nor on the Immortal Works of Robert Burns. "Haggis Talk " pays tribute to Mither Scotland, her Bairns and her National Bard with a rollicking collection of original poems written in three parts, chiefly in Scottish dialect. Although the majority of these salute the 9.5 million worldwide Burns Supper Club members in Part One, a few do poke fun at Scot wanna-be windbags trying to sound like Rabbie, e.g. "Haggis U.S.A." and "Burns Night Randan". Part Two continues the main theme covering a range of subjects and characters from bagpipes to beetles, along with some hilarious Clydeside tenement nostalgia like "Tae Aulder Folk". Part Three is literally an arsenal of comical ammunition for the Burns Club jokers and comedians who always keep the fun going after all the traditions are observed. The cartoons by Scott Relth brilliantly punctuate this collection with his inimitable Scottish style and flair. Rabbie's "Auld Lang Syne" always brings these celebrations to a rousing close with everybody linking arms in an exuberant circle. Written to entertain those of his ilk at home and abroad, this ex-pat Scottish author expresses sincere hopes that readers will derive as much pleasure from his "Haggis Talk " as he has from Burns' songs and poems over the years.
