Go on an adventure with Fruity and her new friends, and learn about the different fruit flies used in scientific research! Fruity and the Mutants is the story of Fruity, a fruit fly. Fruity is a "e;wild-type"e; fruit fly, which means she looks like the typical fruit fly you see buzzing over overripe fruits. Escaping from a pesky yellow jacket, Fruity finds a family of "e;mutant"e; fruit flies who look very different from her. These strange flies have even stranger names like Groucho and Swiss Cheese and Brainiac and are very friendly. They welcome Fruity to their group. But their peace is soon broken by the angry whir of a yellow jacket that is hot on Fruity's trail and looking for lunch. Read on to find out if the fierce yellow jacket will make a feast out of the flies or if the flies with their diverse personalities will outwit the yellow jacket.
