From The Ashes To The Waves

Formerly published as Fire & Water, by the author of Longing For The Night Meet Kaniya Smith of Los Angeles, CA as she tells the story of her upbringing.  Born and diagnosed with autism, she is raised in a toxic household after her well-to-do father is killed in a car accident.  Her widowed mother only cares about appearances as she searches for high social status in their Windsor Hills enclave.  Her aunt takes her into her Ladera Heights home and gives her a life of peace and stability, as well as a new friend.  But when tragedy strikes and her mother returns, she is forced back into the life she sought to escape.  Will she be able to rise from the ashes with help from her family and best friend, or will she succumb to the flames?
