Forty-year-old Memoir

This book is an autobiography of Hu Shi's early experiences and his mental course. It is also a famous part of modern Chinese biography.To promote the biographical style, Hu Shi advised Lin Changmin, Liang Qichao, Liang Shiyi, Cai Yuanpei, Chen Duxiu, Zhang Yuanji, Gao Mengdan, Xiong Xiling and Ye Jingkui to write an autobiography.Unfortunately, they refused to write although they all agreed.The biography expressing Hu Shi's opinions vividly tells stories of his childhood, juvenile and youth life with the characteristics of "e;young Hu Shi"e; as brightness, wisdom, humorousness and cultural temperament, thus becoming a model for Hu Shi's biography.
