It all started out in pre-adolescence in the mid-1960s. Stuck in the house during those lazy hazy summer days I read Illustrated Classics comic books inside the backyard screened porch. While slurping on a Popsicle those wondrous images and suspenseful narratives whisked me away to worlds of adventure (The Three Musketeers), terror (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde), and glory (Camelot). And walking back from the general store to our seaside cottage in Green Harbor, I used to read the latest baseball news from Sports Illustrated. Reading was my way of combating boredom and loneliness."e;
