The centuries-old debate over what role, if any, religionhas in public schools has been supported and refutedin many legal, educational and religious arenas. Formany of us who attended school- both pre- and postseparation of church and state- have had the opportunityto experience public schools with religion at the coreof its existence, and then with religion becoming aword that could not be linked with educating publicschool children. However, history has captured therelationship of religion and education, and how the twohave married and produced, then separated itself frompublic schools.
