Empirical Anthropology Issues of Academic Friends and Friends in the Field

Fieldwork tradition is the hallmark of anthropology. Unfortunately, this great tradition of anthropology is not given serious consideration in many anthropology department. Against the backdrop, the volume, in honour of Professor Deepak Kumar Behera who himself was an excellent fieldworker, presents important issues and rich fieldwork experience of various scholars. The book has two sections. The first section Issues of Academic Friends consisting of eleven papers covers aspects such as tribes, governance, health, food, language, lyric, youth, etc. The second section Friends in the Field, consisting of seven presents the fieldwork experiences of some German anthropologists in India. The volume makes an attempt to show the importance of fieldwork in anthropology and allied subjects. The shared fieldwork experiences will help the researchers to understand the ground realities and prepare them to be excellent fieldworkers.
