Emancipation: I am my own creation

Embodied. Visceral. Intimate. Feminine. Female-strong and vulnerable. This work expresses a complex relationship with people, geography, and culture. It describes a knowing of Ecology that can only be developed over time. The words speak to the subtle and not-so-subtle ways that politics and poetics infiltrate one human life and the intricacies of everyday events in a place. It weaves through social paradoxes-irreverent, yet sacred; sexual, yet pure; what it means to be insider and outsider, an American expat embedded deeply in society. It is a work for the soulful and open hearted.
