Foreign missionaries established schools in Guangzhou in the 19th century, the greatest contribution of which was knowledge spreading and thinking enlightenment. It marks the beginning of education in modern China with its influence radiating to the neighboring regions including Hong Kong.Missionary schools have left for Hong Kong where they expanded their business since the 1930s. Many of them become the institutions of higher education with a long history.Zhenguang, Peiying, Peidao, Peizheng and Xiehe schools originates from Guangzhou. It is started by missionaries from the North America who do missionary work and establish schools in Guangzhou, and then is moved from Guangzhou to Hong Kong and Macau where they develop.This is the concepts of source and course and of inheritance and change.The Plan for Oral History of Education and Inheritance of the Hong Kong Institute of Education has visited some of the alumni and faculties of these five schools since the end of 2009. They told the inheritance from their Alma Maters. The oral presentation reproduced the history segments of education development in Guangdong and Hong Kong.
