Eastern illusions

The stories in the collection "Eastern Illusions" narrate the loss of a city and the suffering of women in their search for an existence under the sun, in a collapsing and lost world. These are stories of the tragedies of the Lebanese civil war, with its disastrous consequences, the price of which women paid, as is the case with every war.The author documents the emptiness of the lives of her heroines, realistic women who aspire to learn in order to be free, work, and choose husbands who don''t place obstacles in their paths and deprive them of their legitimate freedom. Educated women pay a heavy price, or semi-educated women, not because of their own shortcomings, but because of the harshness of life''s circumstances.Life, as it appears in this collection, is nothing more than broken mirrors, and the facts are utterly ridiculous, as are the names of the protagonists, who do not fit their meaning. It is a game of circles, and each circle leads to another.
