Diuretics: Basic, Pharmacological, and Clinical Aspects

Studies on car­ bonic anhydrase inhibitors led to the synthesis of benzothiadiazides which disclosed much less inactivating action on carbonic anhydrase and much more diuretic effect through an inhibition of tubular transport of sodium and chloride.
