Development Of University Libraries In India After Independence

Manufacturing technologies have advanced at a rapid pace bringing in cost effectiveness through efficiency improvement in processing, material use and the energy consumption. A combination of the three is improving the cost effectiveness for manufacturing process at a rapid pace. It has also been observed that the modern artificial intelligence is contributing in a big way in ensuring quality production and lowering production cost. The book is a compilation of contributions from various participants to the 13th Convention of Mechanical Engineers, hosted by The Institution of Engineers (India), Delhi State Centre, during November 6-8, 1997 at New Delhi. Presentation in the following different sub-themes were organised, viz., metal forming technologies, manufacturing requirements for defence applications, automation in manufacturing, flexible manufacturing system and the factories of the future, artificial intelligence and robotics in production, micro machining processes and environmental concern in manufacturing. The book contains various contributions highlighting the issues and the recent trends in manufacturing in the country. Manufacturing requirement for defence applications has been given special impetus.
