Dawn Quealy I: Tilting at Vending Machines

Ivan Keller expected life at Kearns High School to be difficult--what six-foot-three, three-hundred pound, socially-inept kid wouldn't? A modern retelling of the famous windmill battle in Don Quixote, DAWN QUEALY: TILTING AT VENDING MACHINES is set within the music department of Kearns High. To Ivan's humiliation and dismay, Dawn's sword becomes the focal point of his first three months of high school. As if trying to cast spells and calling on fictional deities for aid isn't bad enough, Dawn decides to bring her blade to school, intent on destroying the evil "mechanical doppelgangers"--really just innocent vending machines--that roam the halls. Dealing with a vindictive prankster, a nosy detective, and Dawn's insatiable desire to slay vending machines--all while trying to keep the girl from getting expelled--will tax Ivan's own sanity to the limit.
