Elena Kazakhova is trapped—trapped in a deadly addiction to drugs—trapped by the mob who uses her as a drug mule in exchange for the drugs to maintain her habit—and trapped in a hopeless cycle of shame and failure that her life has gone completely down the drain. Everything changes when she gets arrested and questioned about her drug trafficking activities—but things don't change for the better the way the arresting officer suggests they might if she cooperated with the investigation and helped put the mobsters behind bars. The situation explodes in her face when an otherworldly monster starts attacking the mobsters, killing hundreds of them all over the city, and leaving only her alive.
