Consequences of self-medication and medical approach to rare diseases.

This is a systemic approach that reports the clinical picture, diagnosis, genetic relation and treatment of two rare diseases that affect the digestive system and the importance of a fast and early approach for a good prognosis of both. The last chapter presents a literature review in order to identify the prevalence of self-medication in different undergraduate courses, besides emphasizing the importance of pharmaceutical guidance to decrease the risks associated with this practice, thus contributing to the rational use of medicines.
