Conflicts of Family Law in Islam and Iran

The law, which was supposed to encourage marriage and the family institution, has turned into a tool of separation and divorce. Major problems between spouses that are related to the current family law exist in the area of finance mainly with regard to the marriage portion (mahr), daily expenses (nafaqah) and wages for housework. Each of these three items alone is enough to discourage young adults from getting married or bring about a collapse in the marriage and/or divorce among already married couples
