Cities that disappeared in ancient times

The book presents an interesting description of ten cities that were established in ancient times, then disappeared over the generations until excavators were able to uncover them. Among these cities we mention: Babylon, which was the greatest and richest city in Western Asia, Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrians, Ur of the Chaldeans, and the city of Pompeii, whose population was killed during the eruption of the Vesuvius volcano...etc.The author was in Italy, working as a war attaché for the British Radio, when he saw the ruins of the city of Pompeii for the first time, and he began writing about the ruins as a result of that visit. Following the approach of this book, he wrote a book about the ancient civilizations of Greece, Crete, Egypt, and the Near East. His books are characterized by simplicity and enjoyable presentation, while making use of the historical data that he presents in an easy, attractive narrative form.
