Call to Arms

This book is one of Lu Xun's influential short story collections. Born in the context of the May Fourth Movement and the New Culture Movement, it contains fourteen short stories written by Lu Xun from 1918 to 1922: A Madman's Diary, Kung I-chi, Medicine, Tomorrow, An Incident, The Story of Hair, Storm in a Teacup, My Old Home, The True Story of Ah Q, The Double Fifth Festival, The White Light, The Rabbits and the Cat, The Comedy of the Ducks, and Village Opera. In his stories biting satirical technique is used to vividly portray the real social life from the Revolution of 1911 to the "e;May Fourth"e; period, exposing the numerous contradictions in society at that time and highlighting Mr. Lu Xun's strong sense of concern for the national survival and his strong desire for social revolution, as well as his spiritual journey of exploring the path of saving the country and the people.
